Mulukhiyah
Ingredients
- 5 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 bunch of chopped coriander
- 1 bunch of mlokhiye cut into small pieces (or mloukhiya already cut and frozen)
- 3-4 chicken breasts
- 1 squeezed lemon
- 1 onion
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper
Preparation
- In a frying pan over medium heat, heat 2 spoons of olive oil, add the chopped garlic cloves and coriander and cook for 3-4 minutes. Set aside
- In a large saucepan, over high heat, grill the chicken pieces for 3 to 4 minutes to give them a nice golden color on both sides, then add 2 cups of hot water, an onion, a cinnamon stick, a few bay leaves and salt and cook for 35 minutes.
- In the same pan pour 0.5 cup of chicken broth add the mloukhiyé with salt and pepper, let cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes. Add the squeezed lemon 2 minutes before turning off the heat
- Prepare the rice on the side
- To savor this meal, add a spoonful of vinegar and a few small pieces of chopped onions and toasted pita bread to your plate!
